Mark Lamont joins SecuriGroup Systems as Technical Director

Laura Imrie • November 5, 2026

We’re delighted to welcome Mark Lamont to SecuriGroup Systems as our new Technical Director.

Bringing extensive experience across security operations, technology and service delivery, Mark will work closely with colleagues across SecuriGroup Systems and the wider business to strengthen our service offering and build relationships with partners who share our commitment to quality.

To welcome Mark to the team, we caught up with him to hear more about his background, what attracted him to the business, and where he sees the opportunities ahead.

Q&A with Mark Lamont

Can you tell us a little about your background and the experience you bring to the Technical Director role?

I have significant experience across both frontline and non-frontline security management. For the past 12 years, I’ve worked within a large, multi-service commercial ARC, with an operation spanning the UK, Republic of Ireland and Canada.

My responsibilities covered everything from process creation, quality assurance, training and compliance to AI development, IP phone systems, business continuity, recruitment and people management. I was also involved in project management linked to mergers and acquisitions, as well as the onboarding of large clients and providers.

Throughout that time,
my focus was on achieving strong operational performance while prioritising the delivery of life safety services.

What attracted you to SecuriGroup and SecuriGroup Systems?

I first came across SecuriGroup many years ago when I completed my Door Supervision and CCTV licences with the business. The approach to training really stood out to me. It was structured, considered, and very different from much of what I encountered elsewhere in the industry.

That experience stayed with me and went on to influence how I approached the development of programmes myself.

Beyond that, what attracted me to the role was
the opportunity to join a business with strong foundations and significant potential for growth. My predecessor and the wider team have built a solid platform, and I was excited by the prospect of helping shape the next stage of that journey.

I enjoy working in environments where there is an opportunity to develop services, strengthen relationships and deliver meaningful improvements,
and SecuriGroup Systems offered exactly that challenge.

What are you most looking forward to in your new role?

Getting to grips with where SecuriGroup Systems is today and working with colleagues across the business to identify where we can improve.

I’m particularly looking forward to
strengthening our service offering and how it’s understood by both internal and external stakeholders.

As you step into the role, where do you see the biggest opportunities for SecuriGroup Systems?

There’s a strong core of experienced people within Systems, with the work ethic and ambition needed to deliver a high-quality service.

One of the biggest opportunities is to build on that expertise by developing more relationships with manufacturers and providers across the security industry who share the same focus on quality.

And away from work, tell us something people might not know about you.

I’m a voracious reader. I move between quite a few different genres, but I have a particular interest in science fiction, high fantasy, classical literature, and ancient history.

Mark brings a wealth of operational, technical, and leadership experience to SecuriGroup Systems, alongside a clear focus on quality and continual improvement.

We’re delighted to welcome him to the team and look forward to seeing him help shape the next chapter for SecuriGroup Systems.

The release of BS 5839-1:2025 marks the first major update to the UK’s fire detection and alarm system standard since 2017. Here’s what you need to know and how we can help you stay compliant and safe. What is BS 5839-1? BS 5839-1 is the British Standard that sets out recommendations for the design, installation, commissioning, and maintenance of fire detection and fire alarm systems in non-domestic premises. It is the benchmark for professionals responsible for ensuring fire safety in buildings and is widely recognised as best practice across the industry. Why Does BS 5839-1 Matter? This standard is essential for compliance with building regulations and is referenced by regulatory authorities, insurers, and enforcing bodies. It is shaped by lessons learned from real-life incidents and evolving technology, ensuring that systems are designed to protect both life and property. What’s Changed in 2025 and Why? British Standards are reviewed every five years to ensure they remain fit for purpose. Each update reflects advances in technology, new risks, and insights from serious incidents. The 2025 revision responds to a changing risk environment and the need for stronger, more integrated safety measures. It also aligns with updates to related standards, such as BS 7671 for electrical installations. The new code of practice ensures that fire detection systems keep pace with industry best practice and regulatory requirements. For a detailed summary of the changes, visit the Institute of Engineering and Technology What Does This Mean for You? From April 2025, all fire safety work must comply with the new standard. BS 5839-1:2025 places greater emphasis on continuous professional development for technicians and requires Alarm Receiving Centres to maintain a higher level of site knowledge. Compliance is a shared responsibility, covering service providers, property managers, landlords, tenants, and keyholders. At SecuriGroup Systems, our expert fire professionals are fully up to date with the latest standards. We are here to guide you through the changes and ensure your systems remain compliant, effective, and robust. If you have any questions about how BS 5839-1:2025 affects your premises or operations, contact our team of fire safety specialists at systems@securigroup.co.uk or call our Security Intelligence and Operations Centre 24/7 on 0844 80 80 999.
